If you are planning a leisure tour to Himachal Pradesh, you should follow the following points to make your holidays much memorable and enjoyable experience:

  • Between April and October is the best time to visit Himachal Pradesh. It is advisable to check on general road conditions.
  • It is recommended to opt for a sturdy vehicle like a Jeep or Gypsy if u are using your own vehicle for Himachal Travel.
  • You can find a number of petrol pumps en route at Shimla, Theog, Narkanda, Rampur, Powari, Recong Peo, Kaza, Keylong, Manali and Sarchu.
  • Make sure if the high passes are opened and you are in good health.
  • Your prescription medicines and sun-screen lotion should be carried along with you on your trip.
  • Take only boiled water or bottled mineral water during your trip
  • Foreign Tourists who have already traveled across Africa or Papua/New Guinea are mandatory to have a yellow fever inoculation certificate six days before arriving in India. Those who have not travelled through these countries may be quarantined for up to six days.
  • During summer, you can wear light cotton or woolen clothing as the temperature in these months is mild. During winter, you must carry heavy woolen clothes as the temperature can suddenly go down below the freezing point in these months.
  • If the foreigners want to overstay, they are required to inform the Sadar Police Station or the closest Foreigners' Regional Registration Office for the same.
  • Visitors can find state hospitals at Recong Peo, Keylong and Kaza, while dispensaries can be spotted at all the other places.
  • Travelers are suggested to carry information and guide maps obtained from the Himachal Tourism Office.
  • You must go for guest houses or hotels registered with the Department of Tourism in India.
  • Tourists must strictly follow customs and traditions while visiting religious places.

If you are planning an adventurous trip for a trek, a visit to wild life sanctuaries, or just looking for a picnic, kindly ensure the following points to make your Himachal Pradesh travel safer and secure:

  • Don’t left behind any non-bio-degradable litter like plastic bottles and cans, or bury this litter.
  • For firewood, you can use only dry fallen twigs.
  • Don’t try for huge bonfires.
  • You cannot wash clothes in the water bodies and cannot rinse soap while taking a bath.
  • Don’t make disturbing noises and loud music as they will disturb the wildlife.
  • Vehicles can be used only for minimum of their requirement.
  • Flora and fauna are not hurt in any way.
